Frequently Asked Questions
From pricing and project process to technology, hosting and ongoing support: here you will find answers to the questions we encounter most often in initial consultations. One partner for website, shop and visibility.
General
- What exactly does XICWEB do? XICWEB is a full-service web agency. We deliver the four building blocks a successful online presence needs from a single source: the website, the online shop, visibility on Google and ongoing support. You talk to one dedicated contact who knows your project, instead of changing teams at several providers. The advantage is continuity: design, technology, content and operation fit together because the same people are responsible for them. We assess which building blocks make sense for your plans in the free initial consultation.
- Why everything from one source instead of several providers? Anyone who spreads website, shop, SEO and maintenance across separate providers spends a lot of time on coordination and interfaces. If something falls between responsibilities, the parties tend to pass the blame around. Exactly this friction disappears when one partner keeps the overview. From a single source means: one contact, one technical framework, one party responsible for the overall result. That saves you coordination effort and speeds up decisions. You can read more about how we work on the about page.
- Who does XICWEB work for? Our clients are small and medium-sized companies as well as local businesses looking for a reliable digital partner who does not want to deal with technical details. From the trade business through the law firm to the retailer with an online shop: what matters is that the website should win customers and the operation should run without worries. Whether the effort pays off for your specific plans and which service is the right place to start is something we clarify factually in the initial consultation. The services overview gives you a first idea of our range.
- Do you work nationwide or only regionally? Our location is Söhlde in Lower Saxony, between Hildesheim, Hanover and Braunschweig. But we work nationwide: project coordination, implementation and support run reliably via video call, phone and shared working states, so distance plays no role in practice. For clients in the region, an on-site meeting is of course possible. For everyone else, our well-established remote collaboration fully replaces travel, with no compromise on the quality of support.
- Do I have a dedicated contact person? Yes. Every project has a dedicated contact who knows your plans and your system and is your first point of contact for all questions. You do not have to explain your setup anew with every request, and decisions take the context of your project into account. This applies not only during implementation but also in ongoing support. That keeps the collaboration personal and transparent, instead of running anonymously through a ticket system.
- Which technology do you use? We build with modern, proven technology: fast, responsive websites with a content management system you can maintain yourself, and online shops based on Shopware in the open-source edition. Hosting is in Germany, and the implementation is designed to be accessible to WCAG 2.2 AA from the start. It is important to us that you are not pushed into closed systems. You keep access to your content and your data. Which technical basis suits your project best is something we discuss specifically in the initial consultation.
Process and Pricing
- What does a website cost? We start an individual company website as a fixed price from €1,490 net. This includes a design tailored to your company, a maintainable content management system, a fast and mobile-optimized implementation and an accessible foundation to WCAG 2.2 AA. The specific price depends on the scope, that is, the number of pages, the desired functions and the effort for content. After a short conversation, we give you a fixed price so you can plan with a clear figure from the start. The web design page shows the details.
- What does an online shop cost? We build an online shop based on Shopware in the open-source edition from €4,900 net. This covers the setup, a design adapted to your brand, the integration of common payment methods and the basic structure for your catalog, for either B2C or B2B. How high the price ends up depends on the size of your range, the interfaces required and individual requirements. We calculate transparently and state the scope in advance. You can find more on the online shop page.
- What does SEO and visibility cost? We offer ongoing search engine optimization from €490 net per month. This includes technical SEO, work on content, local visibility and continuous optimization, so you are found where your customers search. SEO works over time, not overnight. That is why it is set up as ongoing support and not as a one-off action. Which measures give your offering the greatest leverage is something we clarify at the start. You can find more information on the SEO page.
- What does ongoing support cost? Website care starts from €49 net per month in the basic variant and extends through tiered packages up to around €199 net per month. Depending on the package, this includes updates, security, backups, monitoring, performance care and an allowance for small changes. This keeps your website up to date, secure and fast on a lasting basis, without you having to deal with technical details yourself. Which package fits your needs depends on the scope of the website and the desired response time and can be adjusted at any time.
- How does a project run? A project follows four clear steps. It begins with the free initial consultation, in which we clarify goals, scope and framework. This is followed by a concept with a fixed price, so you know exactly what you get and what it costs before you place the order. Once the framework is agreed, we implement the website or shop and coordinate the interim states with you. After going live, we take over the ongoing support on request, so operation continues without worries. We take the first step in contact.
- Do you work with fixed prices? Yes. For website and shop projects, we state a fixed price after the concept phase instead of a vague hourly estimate. This gives you planning certainty and lets you know from the start what investment to expect. There are no hidden extra costs for standard services. Wishes that go beyond the agreed scope are coordinated in advance and calculated separately before they are implemented. Ongoing services such as SEO and support are billed as a predictable monthly rate. We answer open questions about calculation in the initial consultation.
Technology and Support
- Are the websites accessible? We design websites to be accessible from the start and orient ourselves to WCAG 2.2 at level AA. This concerns contrast, keyboard operability, meaningful structure and usability with screen readers. That way you reach more people and are well positioned for the requirements of the German Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG). Accessibility is not an afterthought bolted on later but part of the implementation. Which requirements specifically apply to your plans is something we assess in conversation. You can also find the basics on the web design page.
- Where are my website and my data hosted? Your website is hosted in Germany. This is advantageous from a data protection perspective and ensures short paths for questions about operation. Your content and data remain in your access; you are not locked into a closed system. Whether we take over hosting as part of support or continue to use an existing, working environment is something we clarify according to your requirements. It is important to us that you always know where your website is located and who has access.
- How fast are the websites? Speed is a fixed part of our work, not a coincidence. We build websites so that the visible main content appears quickly, aiming for a Largest Contentful Paint under 2.5 seconds. This improves the user experience and has a positive effect on visibility on Google. This is achieved through clean code, optimized images, sensible caching and fast hosting. It pays off especially on smartphones, where a large share of visitors are on the move. Keeping the site fast in the long term is part of the ongoing support.
- Can I maintain content myself? Yes. Your website comes with a content management system that lets you update texts, images and pages yourself, without programming knowledge. On request, we show you or your team in a short briefing how the daily tasks work. Anyone who prefers to hand over changes passes them to us as part of support. Both can be combined: you maintain the everyday content yourself while we take over technology, security and larger adjustments.
- What does ongoing support include? Website care keeps your site up to date, secure and fast. Depending on the package, this includes regular updates of the system and extensions, security measures, automatic backups with tested recovery, monitoring of availability and an allowance for small content changes. The purpose of support is prevention: many problems do not arise in the first place when updates are installed in good time and the website is monitored. This keeps operation predictable, and you do not have to deal with technical details yourself.
- Can you take over an existing website or shop? Yes, taking over existing projects is a common entry point. You do not have to have the website rebuilt in order to switch to us. We begin with an assessment, evaluate the technical condition, identify open points and derive the next steps from that. We then take over the ongoing support and, if it makes sense, a gradual modernization. Whether a hosting migration is necessary or the existing environment can continue to be used is something we assess individually. We take the first step in the initial consultation.
