Website and shop on a monthly subscription
Your website or online shop as an ongoing service rather than a one-off purchase: setup, operation, hosting, maintenance and a fixed change allowance in one monthly price. If you would rather buy, the one-off price for the same package sits right next to it — same page, same scope.
A company website with five to ten pages costs a one-off 3,000 to 8,000 € net in Germany (market research 2026), and an online shop a multiple of that depending on scope. For many businesses this is less a question of price than of liquidity: the money exists, but not all at once, and certainly not before the site has brought in its first enquiry. The website subscription spreads that investment across fixed monthly instalments and at the same time includes everything that would come up after launch anyway — hosting, updates, backups, availability and the changes that always arrive over the course of a year.
The subscription in five sentences
- You pay a one-off setup fee and then a fixed monthly price: website from 129 € net, online shop from 649 € net per month.
- The monthly price covers operation, hosting in Germany, updates, backups, monitoring and a fixed change allowance — 30 minutes to 20 hours per month depending on the package.
- The minimum term is 12 or 24 months. After that the contract continues indefinitely and can be cancelled with one month's notice to the end of the month.
- Under the subscription you rent the finished website. Your content, texts, images, data and your domain belong to you throughout and transfer to you on cancellation.
- If you want to own the website, take the one-off price for the same package instead — it is on this page, one click on One-off purchase next to every rate.
How the website subscription works
The subscription is not a website builder and not a template system. You get the same individually designed website we build for a fixed price: your own layout, your own copy, your own visual language, an editable content management system, accessible to WCAG 2.2 AA and optimised for loading speed. The only differences are payment and ownership. When you buy, the site is yours on acceptance and you decide who maintains it afterwards. Under the subscription we make the finished site available to you for use, keep operating it and bill monthly for that.
The process is identical in both cases: free initial consultation, written quote with a fixed scope, concept, draft, build, acceptance, launch. Only then do the two paths separate. Under the subscription, operation begins at launch — we keep the site current, install updates, back it up daily, monitor availability and work through your change requests within the agreed allowance. You send an email, we implement it. There are no timesheets and no invoice for every small item.
Individual design
Your own layout based on your existing identity, not an off-the-shelf template. You see a draft before anything is built.
Hosting in Germany
Operation on servers in Germany, TLS certificate, daily backups retained for 30 days, GDPR-compliant.
Updates and maintenance
Regular updates to the system and its extensions, security checks and restoration if something goes wrong.
Changes included
A fixed allowance each month for copy, images, prices, opening hours, new subpages and small rebuilds.
Monitoring
Availability, certificate expiry and loading time are checked continuously. If something breaks, we get in touch — not your customers.
Accessible and fast
Built to WCAG 2.2 AA and optimised for short loading times — both as standard, not as a surcharge.
The three website packages
The packages differ in three dimensions: number of pages, monthly change allowance and depth of ongoing support. Choose Subscription or One-off purchase above, and between a 12- and 24-month term — the prices in the cards switch with it. All figures are net prices plus VAT and are aimed at companies, self-employed professionals, associations and public bodies.

The three shop packages
An online shop is not a project with an end date, it is an operating system for your sales. Ranges change, payment methods are swapped, shipping rules are added, and security updates run regardless. That is exactly why the subscription often fits better here than a purchase: you pay for the operation that happens anyway in one price, instead of receiving a time-and-materials invoice every month. All shops are built on Shopware Community Edition, that is on open software with no licence fee and no lock-in to a closed provider.

Subscription or one-off purchase — which suits you?
Both models are complete offers, and we earn on both. The decision comes down to two questions: do you want to own the website, and how predictable should the monthly load be? If you want to carry the site as an asset on your balance sheet and be able to change provider at any time, buy it. If you cannot commit the full amount at once and have nobody in house to maintain the site anyway, subscribe. There is a third, very common route: start on the subscription, see for a year what the site actually brings in, and decide at your leisure.
The honest comparison
Neither model is better in principle. These are the points that decide it in practice.
Website subscription
- Included: Low entry cost, fixed monthly rate
- Included: Operation, hosting and changes are included
- Included: An ongoing operating expense, deductible immediately
- Included: One contact, no time-and-materials invoices
- Not included: The website remains our property
- Not included: Minimum term of 12 or 24 months
One-off fixed price
- Included: The website is yours on acceptance
- Included: No commitment, provider can be changed at any time
- Included: Capitalised and depreciated over its useful life
- Not included: The full amount is due when the project starts
- Not included: Support, hosting and changes cost extra
- Not included: Larger rebuilds are commissioned individually
A worked example over 24 months
The most honest comparison puts both models side by side over the same period and with the same scope. If you buy, you also need support and hosting — otherwise the site runs without updates and without backups. For the middle package, Plus, two years look like this:
| Cost item over 24 months | Website subscription (Plus) | One-off purchase plus support |
|---|---|---|
| One-off at the start | 1,490 € setup | 3,900 € fixed price |
| Monthly | 229 € net | 99 € net support |
| Total over 24 months | 6,986 € net | 6,276 € net |
| Changes included in the price | 1 hour per month | time and materials, 95 € per hour |
| Cost in the first month | 1,719 € net | 3,999 € net |
| Ownership of the website | with us, used by you | with you from acceptance |
| Your content, data and domain | yours throughout | yours throughout |
| Tax treatment | ongoing operating expense | asset, depreciated over its useful life |
| Commitment | 24 months, monthly cancellation thereafter | none |
What the figures show
Not sure which model fits?
Tell us briefly what you have in mind and where you stand. We will calculate both options for your case and say openly which one we would take in your position — free of charge and without obligation.
What the subscription does not cover
A subscription that supposedly covers everything is either priced expensively or not telling the truth. So here is the counter-list, explicitly. None of the following is part of the monthly price; each is quoted in advance as a separate fixed price, so you know the cost before any work begins.
- A complete rebuild of the website within the term, for example after a rebrand
- Domain costs and third-party fees, for example for fonts, image licences or payment providers
- Advertising budget for search or social campaigns, and the ongoing management of those campaigns
- Photo shoots, video production and copywriting beyond migrating the content you already have
- Custom development such as calculators, booking systems or connections to third-party systems
- Restoration after damage caused by you or a third party, for example through outside access to the content management system
From first conversation to ongoing operation
Initial consultation
Free and without obligation, by phone or video call. We clarify scope, timing and which package realistically fits — even if the answer is that a one-off purchase would be cheaper for you.
Quote
You receive a written quote with the package, page count, change allowance, term and both price options. What it says is what applies. There are no additional claims because the work took longer than estimated.
Concept and draft
We work out the structure and page architecture and show a designed draft of the home page and one subpage. Nothing is built until the draft is agreed.
Build
Development, content migration, accessibility, loading-time optimisation, legal texts and a test run on a protected preview address. You review and approve.
Launch
Domain switchover, certificate setup, submission to the search engines, handover of the content management logins and a one-hour introduction.
Ongoing operation
From here the subscription runs: updates, backups, monitoring and your change allowance. You send change requests by email and we respond within the agreed response time.

Contract, cancellation and ownership
The subscription is a continuing obligation covering the provision and operation of a website, not a purchase by instalments. The minimum term is 12 or 24 months from launch, depending on the tariff. After that the contract continues indefinitely and can be cancelled by either side with one month's notice to the end of the month. There is no automatic renewal for a further year.
On cancellation you take with you: your domain, your content in text and images, your customer data and, for a shop, all order and product data in a common exchange format. These things have been yours from the start; we only operated them. What cannot come with you is the technical implementation itself — layout, templates and code remain our property, because that is precisely what the rent pays for. If you want to keep the website, talk to us: switching from the subscription to a purchase is possible at any time, and we will quote the price for it.
