WordPress is a good tool, but not a tool for everything. It fits when content grows regularly and is maintained by several people: service pages, guides, references, job ads. It also fits when you want to stay independent and be able to move your site to another provider at any time. WordPress makes less sense when a site consists almost entirely of a few rarely changed pages — a lean, custom-built website is then faster and needs less maintenance.
