subdomain

In short and in plain language

A subdomain is a part in front of your domain name. One example is the www at the start of an address.

Such a part can hold its own site. Or its own service, such as a shop.

It still belongs to your domain. But some tools treat it on its own.

Definition
A subdomain is a part placed in front of the actual domain name, such as “shop” or “www”. It can host its own website or service and still belongs to the same domain. Some tools and settings treat it separately from the main domain.
